Sunday I wrapped up a blog giveaway on one of my other blogs
www.readyreaderbooks.com/. This was a second attempt and much more successful than my first. My first attempt included a company sponsored gift from a company I emailed and asked for samples. I tweeted the offer but didn’t receive interest at all. Below are a few ways I went about performing a blog giveaway differently:
What are your goals?
Decide on goals you want to achieve as a result of a blog giveaway. Do you want to increase traffic, gain more subscribers or promote a new blog?
Self-sponsored blog giveaway
I decided to sponsor my own gift this time and created a graphic of the prize and wrote the blog post (which included giveaway rules), Twitter posts and TwitWall post about the giveaway.
Xomba.com was also a useful site to post a blurb about the giveaway, because it instantly provided a high Google ranking listing within my niche. I also suggest to keep your rules simple and entry time short (no more than seven days).
Automate post to drive traffic to your blog giveaway
TwitWall was a very useful tool, because I posted the giveaway to my wall and scheduled retweets at 3, 6 and 8 hour intervals. I loved the automation!
Speak directly to your audience
TwitterMoms.com is a great place to post your blog giveaway especially if your prize will appeal to women. There are specific groups on TwitterMoms, one particularly entitled “ReTweet this Please”, and you will find posting there to be very helpful in promoting your giveaway.
Seeing is believing
I signed up with random.org ($4.95) to help me select a winner. Random offers various views of contest results. I chose entrant accessible, this enable my participants to view and verify their entry as well as the winner. With so many scams on the Internet, I think this helps to give you more credibility.
Always say, “Thank you”
Lastly of course, thank everyone for entering and follow-up with your winner for mailing information.
Have you had success at blog giveaways? If so, tips and advice are welcome!
