Have you ever found yourself at your computer and stumped for a domain name?
Here are a few simple steps to take in creating the perfect domain name for personal or business use.
-
Narrow your thoughts down to no more than 3 words, preferably 2 words that describe your site content. Remember to keep it simple.
-
Type out your domain name to make sure it reads well all together. For example, www.taylorassinc.com for Taylor Associates, Inc. does not read well.
-
Perform a search for availability. www.godaddy.com is a great inexpensive site to register domain names. In the event that your domain name is available, verify that the .com or .net extensions are available. These are the easiest to remember than all of the other domain extensions offered.
If you are an organization purchase the .org extension, but also buy the .com extension as well.
-
If your name is not available, think of adding a call-to-action word before or after the domain name. For example, buycarsnow.com or driveacar.com
